CLUB LOTTERY SIGNUPS!
Hi everyone! It's been 3 months and it's time for your chance to get into the GothSocks yarn club again! please read the following and the sign up link is at the bottom!

I will be keeping the lottery sign ups open until December 26th. At that time I'll randomly pick from the sign ups list for your spot in the club! Winners will be emailed with sign up links on December 27th :)

First up let's just recap a little about the club:

I will be billing quarterly for the club and membership will now be perpetual for as long as you want to stay in. (USA- $120, Canadian $122, International $126) What this means is that the subscription to the club will be for as long as you want it. Payment will come out in full for each 3 month allotment. Payments will come out the same day as you signed up (First initial payment will come out when you sign up and then every third month until you unsubscribe)

Each quarter will include the following - 1 Black Striped GothSock, 1 Non-Black Striped GothSock and 1 Gothling. Each quarter will include at least 1 luxury base yarn. Luxury bases are the OhMyGoth Cashmere or the Gilded with Silver or something similar. The other 2 months of each quarter will be an assortment of merino, BFL, or a surprise yarn base of my choosing.And as always, shipping is included in the price as well. Your Gothling month will include swag of some sort, most likely a 1/4 skein heel & toe coordinating yarn but if I find some suitable other swag, I reserve the right to substitute as I see fit. (I will only include awesome stuff. I promise!)

New club rules are as follows:

1. Please do not resell your club yarns on online market places like ebay for at least 1 year after you have received them.

2. Please do not resell your club yarns for more than the original purchase price in the GothSocks Groupies board on Ravelry. I can't stop you from reselling them on ravelry, nor am I asking you to do that. I am however asking that in the GothSocks forum to not oversell items that I sell. I don't mind trades, reselling for purchase price but in our boards please do not do this. It is unfair to people that are buying the yarns and since it is a forum that is for GothSocks I feel this is a reasonable request.

3. I reserve the right to cancel club memberships and refund the purchase price as I see fit. I have never canceled anyone at all but have run into some similar issues recently and for various reasons feel like I do have the right to refuse membership if I feel it is warranted for any reason.

WA state residents please add 9.5% sales tax. (Tax will not automatically be added through paypal and you will get a second invoice from me for it. Sorry about the inconvenience but it's the only way I can make it work! I will be sending your invoices very soon after everyone has signed up. )

*IMPORTANT NOTICE* If you change your address anytime during the club or change your paypal information, email me directly. Paypal does not inform me of changes, only cancellations which can occur even when you are just changing your bank info. Hi all! I sent out a newsletter, but wanted to update the blog with the update day! It's this Thursday evening at 6pm pacific time.

I wanted to change it up a bit and give an evening update a try. I know some people have work obligations that make weekday afternoon updates impossible. So I will keep them a bit varied to try and let more people come on by and shop!

I'll have a bunch more of the past colorways (LOTS of Half Broken Hearted. I have heard your pleas!) as well as more new Gothlings. (I'm having so much fun with these!)

Hi everyone! Thanks for the new shop love over at Big Cartel. OMG it was so nice to use. (once we figured out the photo sizing issue...but that was more my fail than anything. Thank goodness for John's help. I was about to freak out LOL)

Hi everyone! I'm having another Halloween limited edition update on Saturday! I'll have all the Halloween colorways available. Some of them will be on different base yarns than last week. I'll update you all when I have them all dyed and ready to go and know what I'll have on what!

After that, I'll be doing an update with club colorways that are now going to be available to everyone. These will include colorways from my Dead Poet's Club (my first ever sock club!) And most of the Tim Burton colorways as well!!! WOOHOO!!! I'll be announcing those after this update is all done.

Friday 17th Shop Update Colorways :

I’m also announcing new base names for yarns as well as the much awaited merino/nylon! The yarn base names are listed below the colorways included in this update! I’ll be posting in the other thread as well with all of my base yarns as well as all over the place over the next week so people know what I’m talking about :)

Colorways in this update are:

GothSocks:

Imma Bitch in Laudanum base yarn
Going Postal in Asphodel base yarn
Ultimate Ginger (dark orange and light orange stripe) Strychnine base yarn
Don’t Blink ( Dark gray with light gray stripe) Strychnine base yarn
TARDIS (dark blue with light blue stripe) Strychnine base yarn

These are part of a line I’ve been pondering for a long time (not just all Doctor Who) self striping colors that are the same color family but one super saturated and the other a nice light color. (hope that makes sense!)

Wicked - Asphodel base
Ember - Asphodel base

YARN BASE KEY:

What this does is make it much easier for me to keep track of paperwork, and it also alleviates the need to keep signing up for you guys. You can stay in as long as you like!

Hi everyone!

Those of you in the GothSock club should be getting paypal invoices over the next week (depending on when you signed up) If for some reason your account got canceled by paypal and you want to stay in (it usually happens when you update payment info in your account. Paypal likes to cancel everything even if you didn't want to!) Just send me a quick email and I'll start sending out renewal links for you!.

I'll figure out after the 24th how many club openings there will be and announce it in here and the shop for you to send me you email to get into the lottery for it (NOT NOW! I'll announce it! Please don't send me your email info yet. You won't be included in the lottery that way! It will only be for the days I announce) I'll be accepting emails for that over the course of 2-3 days and then do a random number generator for the slots open. I thought that was really the fairest way to do it because there are only a few open.

In shop news, I will be doing another update in a week or so. I am working out the details and dyeing up the yarn and will let everyone know when it's all ready!

SHOP UPDATE WEDNESDAY JULY 28th at 10AM PST!!!

This update will be unique in that I'm moving into my studio and have tons of sample dyed skeins that I've over dyed and DON'T WANNA MOVE!!!

It'll be a grab bag/mystery skein sale! What this means is this...I have Gothlings, GothSocks, Test dyed yarns, original fuwa fuwa base yarns etc. that will all be in 1 listing. All yarns regardless of the fiber content will be a flat rate of $25. This means some of you are going to score some GothSocks for cheaps...altho most skeins I have are merino based or bamboo, BFL or other wools Gothlings. I have some Gilded skeins in here as well. So if you're into getting surprise yarns in your mail box...this is the sale for you. Almost all yarns will be OOAK over dyed that will be labeled "Dark & Twisty". I cannot repeat these. You won't know what you're getting until you've gotten it :) Kinda fun right? PLEASE LIMIT YOUR PURCHASE TO 2 SKEINS PER CUSTOMER!!! (Since there aren't "colorways" this update I'm simply asking that you limit yourself to 2. If you do get 2 skeins I am not guaranteeing that both will be the same dye lot, colorway or even remotely match. Most are OOAK skeins!!!) Next update will be a regular GothSock update that will be after the first of the month (once club yarns are out the door)

In this update you will get whatever skeins I grab. And like I said...most are non repeatable! So if you like living on the edge and want a surprise then make sure to grab a skein!

Um from Umbridge (deep red stripe with a contrast white and black speckled stripe)
Mad as a Hatter (Bright orange stripe with a contrast blue,pink and purple stripe)
When Life Gives you Lemons(bright yellow stripe with a contrast white stripe)

The Nana’s Tea Party will be on the MCN base all others will be on the tighter twist 100% merino.

I will try to get some gothlings in here as well….not sure what colors yet. It all depends on whether or not I pass out from heat stroke. :)

(After all the update stuff is done I’m revamping my base yarn line names. It’s going to be soooo cool and really make a lot more sense for everyone instead of me always saying “tighter twist this” and “BFL that” or whatever. I’m working out the details and will be able to put all the finishing touches on it after the update and everyrthing is sent out. Trust me. You guys will like what I’ve come up with for base yarn names. I LOVE them so I think you all will too)

And please remember that this update is running a little different than the others and I am asking that you limit yourselves to 2 skeins of each colorway. This gives more people a chance to grab a skein. I will be refunding those that go over which will be a headache for all of us so PLEASE DON'T!!! I'm begging you guys :) Thanks!! Hello everyone!! I'm here! I'm alive! I've been swallowed by yarn!! Well...no. Not really :)

Just wanted to announce that I'll be doing the first of several shop updates on July 10th at 11am PST. It's a Saturday, so mark your calenders now!

I will be doing this update differently so that more people have the opportunity to grab a skein or 2.

I'll be doing a large listing of 1 colorway and then will have several others with fewer skeins. But with 40-50 skeins of 1 color should give more people a chance to get atleast 1 skein. I'm also going to be asking that you limit the amount of each colorway you can purchase to just 2 skeins each (you can buy multiple colorways...just not 4-5 skeins of each. If that makes any sense.Any questions feel free to email me!) I will do refunds and restock the store accordingly if more than 2 skeins of a colorway are purchased. This will be annoying for everyone involved so I'm asking upfront to please not buy more than your share of each color. :) Make sense? This way more people can have a chance but each of you can still buy more than 1 skein if you want to do bigger projects.

I'll announce in a day or so what the colorways in this update will be. I'll be doing another colorway about a week later...but i haven't worked out the exact date yet. I'll update you all in here when I do!

It's time! Here is your sign up links and club details :)

First up let's just recap a little about this next club because it will be a little different than the other clubs I've run.
Things that will be changing in this next club are these:

1. I will be billing quarterly for the club and membership will now be perpetual for as long as you want to stay in. What this means is that the subscription to the club will be for as long as you want it. Payment will come out in full for each 3 month allotment. Payments will come out the same day as you signed up (First initial payment will come out when you sign up and then every third month until you unsubscribe)

What this does is make it much easier for me to keep track of paperwork, and it also alleviates the need to keep signing up for you guys. You can stay in as long as you like!

2. Each quarter will include the following - 1 Black Striped GothSock, 1 Non-Black Striped GothSock and 1 Gothling. Each quarter will include at least 1 luxury base yarn. Luxury bases are the OhMyGoth Cashmere or the Gilded with Silver. The other 2 months of each quarter will be an assortment of merino, BFL, or a surprise yarn base of my choosing. I will also be including swag from time to time but not every month. I want the emphasis to remain on the yarn itself.

This club will start July 2010 and run for as long as you want.

I do try to get club yarns out the first week of the month. Sometimes this can't happen because of family and kids. I will *always* keep you notified if I'm running behind.

IMPORTANT CLUB SIGN UP NEWS:

It's time to start getting ready for the next club sign ups! There are a few changes to the club so please make sure to read through everything first!

Hi everyone! Mark your calendars for 2 shop updates! The first will be on Saturday April 17th at 12:00pm (noon) PST.

I'm doing a shop update (FINALLY!!) on March 15, 2010. I'll be doing it a bit differently than my usual ones. I am only announcing the date, not the time. I will randomly be posting things in there so that more people have a chance to get some things.

I'm just going to see how well it works this way. If it does then this will be the standard for posting....but this is a trial run to see what happens :)

I don't have a full list of what will be in the update yet. Once I do I'll post it up for you all :)

Madrona Fiber Arts 2010

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm such a horrible blogger. I have been busy dyeing up tons of yarn for this years Madrona Fiber Arts which I'm a vendor at. I will have tons of colorways with me in both wool and cashmere blend!

I will be trying to hold back some yarn and set some new GothSocks out each day. Hopefully this will help a little to avoid the empty shelves at Sock Summit again :)

This show will have a price increase for all Merino based yarns. This will become a standard. However at the show I'm including the sales tax in the price of yarn so I don't have to deal with any small coins etc

The prices for the yarns are as follows:

Merino GothSocks - $28
Merino Gothlings - $26
Merino Worsted - $20

I still feel like this is a very reasonable price for my GothSocks. THere is a LOT of work that goes into each individual skein to make it stripe. Prices for the OhMyGoth cashmere blend will remain the same.

It's time! Here is your sign up linkage and club details :)

First up let's just recap a little about this next club because it will be a little different than the other clubs I've run. I'm leaving inspiration open so it will be a surprise each month. I think this will be fun for both you and me. I already have lots of ideas for fun club yarns :)
Also, there will be club exclusive yarn bases. These will be exclusive for the 6 months I'm running the club. Once the club is over I may offer these in my regular shop updates. But until then you will be the only ones to have them!

I will also be doing more Gothlings and Not-a-Goths. It will be evenly spread out between regular black striped GothSocks, Not-a-Goth GothSocks (non-black like Sally's Smock) and Gothlings. These will be on some awesome base yarns such as superwash BFL and Seawool as well as my Pure merino and Luxe Cashmere. You will have a nice variety through out this club. I've also set up some amazing swag for you guys in this club! It'll be lots of fun.

Now for the nitty gritty of it all:This club will run for 6 month from January to June 2010.

I am doing 3 pricing options for this club and they will be recurring payment subscritions through PayPal or a one time pay in full option(you don't need a paypal account. You can sign up with just a credit card as well)

CANADA & INTERNATIONAL- $114 at sign up and again in 3 months.

Once a month payment as follows:USA - $36 monthly payments.

It's almost time to sign up for the next GothSock club! This time I will be running things a little differently. Instead of doing a themed club I will be leaving inspiration open so I can pull from all sorts of genres. Books, poems and anything else that catches my fancy. I think it will be lots of fun and will make each month that much more exciting!

As well as having open inspiration I am changing a few other aspects. I will be doing some club exclusive yarn bases as well. There will be my usual cashmere base and 100% wool but I also want to treat you to BFL and Seawools and things of that nature.

The price will be $36 as month for US residents, $38 for Canadian and International residents. Each month will also include swag and the price also includes all shipping.

This club will run for 6 month from January to June 2010.

Club Sign ups will be on the blog on Monday November 23rd at 10:30am PST.

I have been working really hard dyeing up all sorts of skeins for Sock Summit. If you can make it there please stop by my booth and say hi!!

Announcement about my Fuwa Fuwa base

Hi all! I need to make an announcement about my Fuwa Fuwa base which is the base yarn for GothSocks and Gothlings, and my semi solids.

I have been having some problems with it and I really do want to bring you the best quality yarn I can so…it is time to make a change.

I have a new base yarn that will replace the Fuwa Fuwa that is phenomenal. It has 435 yds per skein and it is simply gorgeous.

Now I know that you guys like the Fuwa Fuwa, I do too but this new yarn really is the bomb and is pretty flawless in comparison. Sure…it costs me a little more but I will not….I repeat NOT be raising prices on any of my yarns.

The new yarn base will be called “Pure” and will replace all the lines the Fuwa Fuwa was featured in. It has the same plump and tight twist. And best of all it is totally squishably soft (I think even more so than the Fuwa Fuwa) and is consistent and gorgeous.

I am confident that you guys are going to love it. Trust me. It’s truly beautiful.

So starting with this next shop update, all regular GothSocks will be on the Pure base and all Gothlings and semi-solids as well.

I will be selling the remaining Fuwa Fuwa semi solids/varigateds this week. So check in the shop for some good close out deals over this next week!

Thanks so much and I can’t wait for you guys to get some of the new stuff. It’s by far my favorite 100% merino sock yarn that I’ve dyed yet.

The sock club is now sold out! Woot! I am SO looking forward to this club. It'll be lots of fun.

I'm working on the last installment for the Dead Poets club this week and then a shop update on June 10th at 10:30am PST.

There will be lots more of the merino/nylon/cashmere in this one. I just got a bunch in and it's sooooo yummy! I'll be doing some of my regular colorways on this base for this update as well as some surprises. Once I've hammered out the details I will list them in here!

Sign ups for the Tim Burton Inspired GothSock club are here! (this is the first time trying to post this kind of thing to the blog so if anything goes screwy...be patient with me as I work on it!)

Just to recap what this club is all about :

6 month GothSock Club inspired by the works of Tim Burton!!!

This club will run for a full 6 months starting in July and will run through December. Club packages will ship the first week of each month and will feature the following yarns:

1 month of OhMyGoth – 80/10/10 sw merino/nylon/cashmere blend
1 month of Gilded GothSocks -- 63/20/15/2 sw merino/silk/nylon/silver
1 month of Not-a-Goth GothSocks on Fuwa Fuwa base yarn (100% sw merino) (non-black self striping)
1 month of Gothlings- non striping semi-solid overdyed on Fuwa Fuwa base (100% sw merino)
2 months of Regular GothSocks on Fuwa Fuwa base (100% sw merino)

(Not necessarily in that order. I haven't assigned which month to which base yarn yet)

I am doing 2 pricing options for this club and they will be recurring payment subscritions through PayPal. (you don't need a paypal account. You can sign up with just a credit card as well)

The first option is a 3 month payment plan as follows:

USA - $96 billed at sign up and again in 3 months.
CANADA - $102 at sign up and again in 3 months.
INTERNATIONAL - $108 at sign up and again in 3 months.

I’m also offering a Once a month payment plan as well as follows:

USA - $32 monthly payments
CANADA - $34 montly payments
INTERNATIONAL - $36 montly payments

WA state residents please add 9.5% sales tax.

All prices include shipping and I will include some small swag items from time to time when I can. My first ever club installment left my hands today and is on it's way to everyone's hot little hands. I hope everyone likes them. I really loved the yarn and poem I picked as inspiration. I'll posted them both up here as soon as everyone has gotten their packages!

I can't wait to see what everyone makes with theirs :)

I'm working on custom orders and a shop update soon. I'll post back here once I'm figured out a timeline for when the next shop update will occur! I'll be including Gothlings Worsted and hopefully the cashmere blend I ordered will be here in time for a few to make their way in there as well.

Quick Update!

Hi!

This is just a short post as we have been busy getting ready for Madrona. We are going to be sharing a booth there so, please visit us if you are in the Tacoma area Feb. 12th through Feb. 15th. With that in mind, we will be closing the shop on Feb. 7th to Feb 15th. Anything ordered during that time will ship when we reopen, Feb. 16th (or so, as we may need to catch our breath!).

Right now, we have 5 pairs of GothSocks newly posted and a great collection of fiber and other yarns. Please check it out!

Another day, another Goth!

Hi!

After fighting our way over mudslides, swimming across flooded streets, and crawling past crumbling driveways, we made it in to the dye studio this weekend. Hurray! The result of all our efforts are some dazzling GothSocks. We played with the saturation of some our old favorites and came up some new colorways to boot! Sorry but our pics are not up to their usual snuff. Something wonky about blogger's uploader today.

Please have a look at MommyGoth pictured below. It is a new colorway. In its Etsy listing we describe it thusly - "The color portion of this skein is a sweet mix of blues, pinks and yellows. And, while they sound like the tradional colors for babies, do not mistake these shades for sweet innocents. These hues are light but come on strong. A perfect choice for the Goth mom or mother-to-be. Forget-me-not blues blend with lemony yellows and blushing pinks to create accent shades of peach and lavender. Bright as a freshly pinched cheek!"

This is Nereid, a magickal mix of sea greens, blues and hints of kelpy green and gold. A little like Old Gregg's hair!

This is a new version of our Elegant Gothic Lolita. We lowered the intensity for this one, a subtle harmony of lilacs, lavenders, and berry pinks. Is that a hint of wisteria blossoms in the air?

This is our most recent version of DitzyGoth. This one is more intense than usual and we LOVE the results. It is an even dizzier rainbow of purple, turquoise, green, red and pink.Next, have a look at the latest release of Steampunk. We dialed up the color again and got an even more sophisticated orchestration of olive, rust, steel gray and deep green.

Wouldn't be a dye day without a MopeyGoth! This is a revamp of one of our originals. Softer and moodier in tones of smoky purple and heather. Perfect for visiting Whitby Abbey in the rain.

Finally, we are hosting the return of the Madam of the Midway, our Gypsygoth! Purpley magentas, creamy sandalwoods, and lighter maroons remind us of the fortune teller's tent at your favorite carnival. No cameras! No knives! No holy water!

We are cooking up plans for a fiber and a yarn club in the near future. Should we start a mailing list?

Oh, you pretty things!

Please take a look at our new line of yarns, Pretty Boys. The yarn is very similar to our Kira Kira yarns but has a titch more silk and a touch less silver. The glitter is subtle but still lovely! The yarn has a dense and silky handle. The colorways are inspired by our favorite transmen, transwomen, transvestites and drag queens from film, fiction and real life We love them!

First up is Hedwig. “How did some slip of a girly boy from communist East Berlin become the internationally ignored song stylist barely standing before you?” We don’t know but we are sure it has something to do with being a drop dead gorgeous bleach blonde belle laide. This skein screams unnatural blonde (in the nicest of ways) and glitters like Hedwig on stage. Yellow shimmies across this skein with smears of red lipstick and flakes of mascara. Trashy and tres chic! The deep blushing pinks, ruddy purples and burgundies in this yarn remind us of sweet little Ludovic from “Ma vie en rose,” a mesmerizingly beautiful tale of a boy who knows he is a girl. Who doesn’t want to live in Le monde de Pam?

Now, let's all cosy up to Bon Bon. “She was so glamorous that when she walked by she made everybody feel like they were in the movies.”Silvery grey and sprinkled with deep cotton candy pinks flits across this yarn, our tribute to Johnny Depp’s Bon Bon in “Before Night Falls.” His silver spangled rooster tail is echoed in the yarn’s threads of sterling silver. He got our hearts to skip a beat! Masculine and yet the epitome of feminine beauty!
We call this one Orlando after the character of the same name played by the inimitable Tilda Swinton. Olives, lodens and deep emeralds transmutate across our lightly glittering yarn. The result is rich and peerless like the doublet of this Elizabeth beauty. Eternally youthful greens call to mind his immortality and silver is there to hint at the beautiful and bold woman he will become.

“What about glitter? When I was a headliner in Paris, audiences always liked it when I sparkled.” Baby blues morph into pretty girl pinks on our lightly glittering silver yarn named for Ed “The world’s worst director” Wood’s first release, Glen or Glenda. We think this yarn asks more questions than it answers like who doesn’t want to see Johnny Depp in Angora? Glen or Glenda? Ed or Bunny? Blue or Pink? We love them both and know you will, too!

"I hereby christen this budget Barbie camper... Priscilla. Queen of the Desert!"Bright Barbie and cactus flower pinks slink across this skein inspired by one of our favorite movies. Bold and subtle colorations take turns on this yarn in a way sure to please Mitzi, Bernadette and Felicia! And like them, the subtle shine imparted by the silver looks gorgeous under the desert sun!

This one is called Breakfast on Pluto. Deeply decadent purples, berries and maroons swirl across this sparkling skein. It is fiercely feminine like Cillian Murphy’s (oh, those eyes!) IRA defeating, Chanel No. 5 wielding Kitten in the film adaptation of the novel. Perfect for breakfast anywhere!
You may be wondering what happened to the GothSocks. Well, we sold nearly all of them in less than 5 hours on Monday. Thank you, thank you! Your enthusiasm and support has blown us away. The only ones we have left are our most recent version of our VampyGoth and a new colorway we are calling CeltiGoth. Look closely and you can see how beautifully the colors change across the yarn.

New Swag!

I just had to share a pic of these new sachets we made up. We aren't selling them (currently). They are just meant to be thank you gifts for your purchases. Aren't they cool? We printed them up individually on our Gocco printer after Rainy created the image of a girl in GothSocks. I say "Wow!" everytime I see them. Plus, they are lavendar/vanilla scented.

GothSocks (at last) and Madrona announcement

First, Rainy & Wooly are proud to announce that we will be selling at the 2009 Madrona Fiber Arts Winter Retreat. It is a great festival and we are so honored to be able to participate. The festival runs February 12th through the 15th, 2009 at the Hotel Murano, in Tacoma, Washington. Please come visit us at our booth or see Wooly in the Pavilion Rotunda where she will be the spinning mentor in the "Spinning Demonstration Booth."

Also, Rainy and Wooly were FINALLY able to get into the studio this last weekend. We spent two busy days releasing all our creative energy. Bliss! The result of our our work is a new batch of GothSocks (some in new colorways!) and lovely roving. Right now, we have the GothSocks up. We will list more items as the week progresses. Please have a look at our latest listings below.

First up is RomantiGoth. We worked hard to find the right purple for this one and we think we found it. It is a gorgeous strong purple (not violet nor maroon) which contrasts so nicely with the black.
This next one is a new colorway we are calling MaudlinGoth. We see it as a more instense version of our popular MopeyGoth. It is a moody mix of purples and berries like the wine stained lips of the darkest of Goths.
More purple in another new colorway! This one is called GypsyGoth. Perfect for the Stevie Nicks and tarot card loving Goth. You know who you are! This is a blend of deep and pale maroons spiked with pumpkin like the velvet tablecloth under your crystal ball.
We love this new colorway, one of Rainy's creations. It has the traditional black stripe followed by a beautiful color changing section that moves from a stripe of deep chocolate brown, followed by a stripe of pale mochas, moving finally in a blue amethyst stripe back out to mochas and again out to chocolate. It reminds us of amethyst geodes. Therefore, we named it Maenad for the lovers of Dionysus, the creator of amethysts. Great for pagan goths or grecogoths!
This is a another new colorway! We are calling Cthulhu Goth. It is a mix of oceanic blues and greens highlighted with sandy terracottas. It reminds us or R'lyeh, the home of Cthulhu. We think it is perfect for all you Lovecraft loving, Necromonicom reading Goths.Finally, another version of our MopeyGoth. It is our all time favorite! We have lots more to list and we will get to it as soon as we can. We hope everyone's holidays were just grand. Thanks to everyone who has supported in this our first year of business. Your encouragement and appreciation make it all the more fun. We couldn't do it without you!

Dye day turns into Snow Day

We really look forward to the days we can head into the studio. We spend all week planning new colorways and concepts for our yarn and fiber. This week was no exception but Mother Nature had other ideas. Have a look.

The Cascade Foothills east of Seattle, where our humble little workshop is, were inundated with a foot and a half of snow. There was no way for Rainy to get in and now way for Wooly to get out! A week without dyeing is like a day without knitting or spinning. Oh well. Hopefully, we will be dug out very soon (at least, before the coffee runs out) and have the studio up and steaming. Of Fiber and Fairies

We have some of the softest fiber in the world in the shop right now. We bought some luxury fiber blends and had fun at the dye pots recently and have these beauties for you:

Murisake is a blend of 80/20 fine merino and cashmere.

This fiber will practically spin itself. It is so soft and squishey. It would make the best cowls of the season!

We also have San:

This is our 70/30 merino seacell blend. This is also supersoft and light as air. A true luxury! And it's even good for you too. Seacell fiber has calcium and minerals in it that will be absorbed by your skin as you wear it. You can't get any better than that!

We also added another gnome hook and for more whimsy, a dancing fairy!

Isn't she cute? She's dancing around in the lavender and bleeding hearts. We are really proud of this hook and hope it finds a home soon.

We've been busy dyeing and making up things for you. Wooly handcarded some more yummy rolags that are in the shop right now. Check them out.

Is it wrong to want to eat wool? Because I totally want to eat these!!!

This is one of the most gorgeous yarns yet. I LOVE it. Wooly outdid herself with these. It is one in a series of 3. All have the same base colors but one charm color is different in each. I love them all for different reasons. You'll have to check back to see the other 2 soon :)

Another new item! This is the first in our yarns inspired by the Twilight series This one is called Edward's eyes, a tribute to Edward Cullen. His eyes are a rich amber and his skin sparkles in the sun.

Edward's eyes has rich deep amber tones along with some honey and gold notes that help set off the sparkle from the silver threads. This is one of our Kira Kira yarns, with over 400 yards of a luscious, luxurious blend of superwash merino wool, silk, real silver fibers and nylon.

After a busy weekend dyeing and prepping fiber, we are proud to announce the first listings of our hand-pulled top. We make all of our top on wool combs one bird's nest at a time. Hand-pulled top is finer and smoother than commercially processed top. You will discover greater levels of control resulting in finer and smoother singles. If you have never spun hand made top you are in for a treat. It is the ultimate fiber prep for worsted spinning. The pics below are our Bartlett's Deep and Fluffy Tufts listing respectively. Aren't they beautiful?

New Listing!

This is a beautiful yarn that we just had to share. This is one of our Usui yarns in the colorway "Sakura." This skein just glows in a delightful cherry pink with delightful sparks of brown and blue. Isn't it gorgeous? We just love the luster and silky hand of this yarn.

Rainy and Wooly are going to be dyeing this weekend so please come back soon to see the lastest from the dyepots. They have also been busy making some body soap in delicious beverage inspired scents like "Champagne Cocktail" and mocha-like "Les Deux Magots."

Hi!

Just a had to post a pic of the orifice hook Rainy made for the store. Isn't it a beauty? All the art is done freehand. It just slays me! The design is called Henna Flowers. Every spinner needs a good orifice hook.

We have also posted another lot of rolags. It's over 6 ounces of our luscious Ram Brulee and a very gorgeous red hue I call Robert Red. It's like kissing Robert Smith!
Finally, we have some more soap in offer. We are still working on the label. Let us know what you think of our recent version. This is our Wool Wash soap, supercreamed with lanolin for washing your skeins and knitted items. It makes a great bath soap, too. This batch is scented with sweet orange and lavender. We love how sweetly it smells and lathers.

New Items Alert!

Hi! After an exciting weekend of dyeing we decided to post a few new items. We got some new yarns and new colorways we are excited to share with you

First, the very first installment of our Kira Kira yarn. Kira Kira is a blend of superwash wool, silk, nylon and silver. Yep, sterling silver is scattered through the yarn giving a marvelous shimmer. We love it! It is sock weight with nice drape and firm twist. One skein is enough for a very indulgent pair of socks. The colorway is called Melancholia. It is a pleasurably somber mix of blues, purples, greens, burgundys, with highlights of amber.

We also listed two of our Okii yarns. Okii is a very soft and sensuous superwash merino worsted weight yarn. The two colorways highlight one of our favorite methods of hand dyeing, something we call charm colors. We believe that beauty of all kinds is heightened by a touch of misbalance. We bring that notion to our dyeing by incorporating a little surprising spark of chromatic disharmony in our semi-solid yarns. Thus in the colorway below, olive's charms are elevated with kisses of burgundy. This colorway is called ARISTAEUS after the god of olives.

And in this lovely yarn pictured below, chocolate and malty browns are enlivened by a gorgeous sky blue. This one is called DOMINANT RECESSIVE, to match your beautiful eyes, whatever their color.

Finally, we put three more colorways of our buttery Rambouillet top. We love this top. Spinning it is like eating creme brulee. In fact, we are calling it Ram Brulee! We promise your eyes will roll back, your toes will curl and you will let out a little moan when you spin this sinfully soft stuff. Respectively, they are called "The Purple shall Govern," Blue Monday, and Big Time Sensuality.

Welcome to our blog! This will be the place to keep abreast of the lastest news at Rainy Days & Wooly Dogs, our little indie dye studio. Right now, we are hosting what we are calling a soft opening. We are in the process of testing everything from shipping to keeping a store blog. We are thankful to everyone for their patience! Our grand opening will be October 31st, our favorite holiday!

Currently, we only have a small sampling of our wares listed on our Etsy site. Keep on eye out for more of our hand carded rolags (none of that mini batt business!), hand combed top and additional soap for fiber AND body which we will be posting very soon! We will also be posting hand dyed yarn in other weights. New items will be listed every few days so checking back often is a good idea.
